Physiotherapists typically work in private clinics or in hospitals as part of the rehabilitation department.

Private Clinics
In Manitoba, a doctor’s referral is not required to access a private Physiotherapist. Many extended health plans cover physiotherapy treatment. Contact your private health insurance provider to discuss the details.

Hospitals
The cost of Physiotherapy treatments received through a Manitoba hospital is covered by Manitoba Health. Many hospitals have outpatient physiotherapy programs.

Some facilities may request a doctor’s referral, so call your nearest hospital physiotherapy or rehabilitation department and ask about their policies.

In-patient physiotherapy may be provided after surgery, stroke, a burn, a heart attack, an amputation, a respiratory illness, and many other conditions. To contact the physiotherapy department in a hospital, look at the listings for that hospital in the white pages or call the hospital operator.
